New Ideas Festival 2018
Alumnae Theatre Company’s 30th annual New Ideas Festival, a three-week, juried celebration of original writing and works-in-progress, takes place from March 7 to 25 in Alumnae’s Studio Theatre (70 Berkeley St at Adelaide).
WEEK 1 (March 7-11): F*ck L*ve by Rosemary Doyle, directed by Brittany Miranda; The Dancing Man of Macklin Street by Andrew Lee, directed by Cassidy Sadler; Governing Ourselves by Stephen Near, directed by Lori Delorme; Oracle Jane by Vicki Zhang, directed by Donald Molnar; Reading (March 10) of Watch Me Drown by Liam Salmon, directed by Evelyn Long.
WEEK 2: Sweet Mama and the Salty Muffins by Ciarán Myers, directed by Kendra Jones; If Socrates Were in My Shoes by Donna Langevin, directed by Carl Jackson; Stars by D.J. Sylvis, directed by Gillian Armstrong; Moving On by Elmar Maripuu, directed by Helly Chester; Reading (March 17) of Mirage: The Arabian Adventures of Gertrude Bell by Laurie Fyffe, directed by Mona Zaidi.
WEEK 3: The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by Natalie Frijia, directed by Kay Brattan; Marty and Joel and the Edge of Chaos by Camille Intson, directed by Lorna Craig; The Officiant by Francesca Brugnano, directed by Paige Foskett; Mourning After the Night Before by Chloë Whitehorn, directed by Heather Keith; Reading (March 24) of Animal by Romeo Ciolfi, directed by Liz Best* (*with the permission of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association).
Showtimes: Wednesday to Saturday 8 pm; Saturday & Sunday matinees 2:30 pm
Saturday readings at noon (March 10, 17, and 24)
