Never Later is an event series - run by womxn, for all - bringing dance-able, raucous house music and immersive art installations to conventional and not-so-conventional venues across the city.
Tired of many mediocre dance parties taking over their weekends, Never Later organizers Gilda and Sara decided to take matters into their own hands. If not now, when? Drawing inspiration from established events held across the country that showcase diverse lineups, build inclusive spaces, and throw damn vibey shows - Never Later is another piece in the always-needed, ever-expanding dance music landscape.
The inaugural Never Later event on Friday, April 13 has six talented artists collaborating to make it all happen:
// Club Fitness // With beginnings in radio, headliner Club Fitness is a budding DJ, playing regularly at some of Torontos best spots. Not defined by any particular genre, her selections are dynamic, eclectic and always hi-energy.
// Gin Ebony STEP 01, Detroit // Gin Ebony is a DJ, a broadcaster, and a sonic curator known for her weekly electronic showcase, STEP 01 on CJAM 99.1FM. In 2013 she relocated from Toronto to pursue integration within the underground dance music community of Detroit, Michigan sparking her career as a DJ and radio journalist.
// efemmera // efemmera is a Toronto based DJ of the Chinese-Vietnamese diaspora and is one third of On Earth. She runs n10as mix series called Defiant Visions, a platform for POC-identified DJs, artists, and dancers.
// Toby Pikelin // Toby is an multidisciplinary visual artist. Her current focus is miniature dioramas and stop motion animation, and she has also done large scale installations for the main stage at Bass Coast Music Festival in BC for the past 5 years.
