Grab your passports and pack your bags. This winter season Neon Dreams goes international, bringing you the very best of cinema from around the globe. For our first screening of 2019, we venture deep underground into the Paris Metro with Luc Besson’s (Nikita, Leon) 1985 sophomore feature SUBWAY.

Bursting into a bombastic car chase within the first 30 seconds, a man known as “Fred” (Christopher Lambert) escapes the police and a vicious group of gangsters with unidentified documents in-hand and flees into the subway. While hiding out he meets a gaggle of misfits also on the run from the real world, falls in love with a mysterious woman (Isabelle Adjani), and even has time to form a new wave pop band with Jean Reno!

To call SUBWAY style-over-substance would be an outrageous understatement, and we mean that in the best possible way. From Isabelle Adjani’s jaw-dropping hair and outfits, to the musical performances that are guaranteed to be stuck in your head for weeks to come (also in a good way), SUBWAY is pure visceral joy from start to finish. And did we mention Jean Reno?
