Nature and Heritage Walks - Follow the Yellow Creek Ravine: Deer Park

Join us on an exploration of Toronto’s largest watershed and discover the ecology and history of the Don River in a series of scenic guided walks through the ravines connected to Evergreen Brick Works.

October 5 | Follow the Yellow Creek Ravine: Deer Park

Explore Toronto’s tree canopy and join us for a leisurely walk from St. Clair TTC Station to Evergreen Brick Works via David Balfour Park.

Start: St. Clair TTC Station (meet inside the main doors)

Finish: Evergreen Brick Works

Distance: Approximately 3.75 km (about 2 hours)

Route Highlights: St. Clair Viaduct, David A. Balfour Park, Belt Line Trail and Park Drive Reservation Trail

Difficulty: Walking on streets, mild slopes, woodland paths and stairs. Paths, trails and streets may be rough, muddy, or wet. Conditions may not be suitable for wheelchairs, assistive devices, strollers, or very young children on foot.

October 12 | Take the DVP (Don Valley Pathway): Flemingdon and Thorncliffe Park

Discover the Lower Don Watershed and how we can cherish it together.

Start: The front doors of Marc Garneau Collegiate (south-west corner, Overlea Blvd. and Don Mills Road)

Finish: Evergreen Brick Works

Distance: Approximately 5.5km (about 2.5 hours)

Route Highlights: Charles Sauriol Conservation Reserve, Forks of The Don and The Lower Don Recreational Trail.

Difficulty: Walking on streets, mild slopes, woodland paths and stairs. Paths, trails and streets may be rough, muddy, or wet. Conditions may not be suitable for wheelchairs, assistive devices, strollers, or very young children on foot.

October 19 | Past the Forks of the Don: Taylor Creek Park

Starting from Victoria Park subway station, this walk follows Taylor-Massey Creek through historic Dentonia Park (Massey family estate), to the Forks of the Don and finally to Evergreen Brick Works.

Start: Victoria Park subway station (outside of main doors, underneath the rail tracks)

Finish: Evergreen Brick Works

Distance: Approximately 8.5km (about 3.5 hours)

Route Highlights: Donora Park, Taylor Creek, Forks of the Don and The Lower Don Recreational Trail.

Difficulty: This is a long hike with a few short stops. Walking on streets, mild slopes, woodland paths and stairs. Paths, trails and streets may be rough, muddy, or wet. Conditions may not be suitable for wheelchairs, assistive devices, strollers, or very young children on foot.

October 26 | Spooky Walk: Mt. Pleasant Cemetery and The Belt-Line Trail

Explore the Lower Don’s spooky history with this walk along Toronto's lost rivers passing through Mt. Pleasant Cemetery and down The Belt Line Trail.

Start: Davisville subway station (south-west corner of Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue)

Finish: Evergreen Brick Works

Distance: Approximately 3.6km (about 1.5 hours)

Route Highlights: Mt. Pleasant Cemetery and Moore Park Ravine.

Difficulty: Walking on streets, mild slopes, woodland paths and stairs. Paths, trails and streets may be rough, muddy, or wet. Conditions may not be suitable for wheelchairs, assistive devices, strollers, or very young children on foot.
