Mustafa Ahmed is a 17-year-old spoken word artist, actor and emcee based in the city of Toronto. Writing from the mere age of 10, Mustafa has utilized this tool of words to help express the different things he witnesses within society. It was after a feature in 2009 in the Toronto Star that he exploded onto the arts scene to continue to share his words.

Coming from Regent Park North Americas first and largest existing housing project Mustafa has been a witness to the changes and gentrification of his neighbourhood. He utilizes the power of the arts to speak and demonstrate his understanding of the intricacies of communities such as his, touching upon topics such as youth empowerment, mental health, Islam, immigration, youth on youth violence, politics, bullying, philanthropy, the search for peace and unleashing the creativity of youth.

Mustafa has had the opportunity of performing at various venues and events such as CBCs Metro Morning, JAZZ FM live, Globals 16x9, Globals Walk the Walk, Childrens Aid Societies, Metro Convention Centre, Stand Up Young Mens Conference, Stem Cell Foundation, CAMHs Cafe Scientifique, People for Education Official Gala, Salon Camdens Why Am I So Poor, Pathways to Education Gala, Manifesto Festival of Community and Culture, the Mayors Art Ball, Metro Hall for the Forgiveness Project, Aveda, Martin Luther King Memorial day at the Roy Thompson Hall, Hot Docs Festival, NYCs Nuyorican caf, RBC presents The Walrus Talks on Philanthropy, TEDxToronto, The Sony Center for Performing Arts and more.

Mustafa has opened up for artists such as Jhene Aiko and Pharoahe Monch and has performed alongside Margaret Atwood and Samantha Nuitt. He has also worked with Nelly Furtado, Broken Social Scene, and poet George Elliot-Clarke. He has been featured in commercials such as Much Music Coca Colas cover commercial and has travelled internationally to share his poetry.

Mustafa is currently the spokesperson for the new Daniels Spectrum. He is a Free the Children youth scholar, performing for annual youth summits, and was an attendee of Moses Znaimers IdeaCity. He is currently working on completing a poetry album, and he hopes to use his writing skills to touch hearts, minds and inspire younger generations to be more active in the world.
