Moses, Joshua, and Archaeology
What archaeology can and cannot say abot the Exodus and the conquest of the promised land.
OPEN LECTURE
The exodus and the conquest of Canaan have shaped the identity of Jews, Christians, and Muslims since ancient times, and continue to fuel the popular imagination in social media and sensationalist documentary films. However, no archaeological or extra-biblical accounts support the historicity of these narratives as far as modern archaeologists and historians can tell. We will compare the flawed logic of Bible-based archaeology with the approach of modern scholarship. If not historical accounts, then why do these stories survived the passing of time and do they retain any value for us today?
The presentation ends around 9.00. The exchange of ideas usually continues until 10, or even later, while we share complimentary snacks and beverages.
