Mixto Festival 2022
Mixto Festival celebrates a truly intercultural city. It brings together communities, cultures and contemporary experiences in a uniquely celebratory format that avoids presenting “world music” as a static or exotic experience. Instead, cultural diversity is treated as an intuitive and integral part of the city’s multicultural fabric.
Celebrated Toronto summer music gathering, Mixto Festival (produced by Uma Nota Culture), is back for 2022 with an expanded format and incredible local and global lineup! Kicking off on Thursday, July 7 through Sunday, July 10 between two venues, audiences will dance, sing and explore four days of music, food, fun, and friends.
Following a successful 2021 edition - against all odds presented during the pandemic - Mixto's founders at Uma Nota powered on and delivered an incredible festival over three days of sonic re-calibration and connection at Lynx Music. This year, the team is bringing more international artists into the fold, including Xenia França (Brazil), Ghetto Kumbé (Colombia), Bombino (Niger), Céu (Brazil), Uproot Andy (New York-via-Toronto), and Francisco, el Hombre (Brazil). Standout local acts include Trp.p, General Eclectic, New Chance, Sofia Fly,Tush, Mosamba, Bangerz Brass with special guest Narcy (Montreal), Tara Moneka, Young Teesh, Me Time, Jerus Nazdaq, Reggaddiction, T.dot Batu, Ana Luisa, Ensoul, Tamar Ilana, Aline Morales, Abdominal and Selectress Sunshine.
Everything begins on Thursday July 7 at Lula Lounge, doors opening at 8:00 p.m. with Xenia França (Brazil), Trp.p and General Eclectic. Festival programming will follow at a transformed parking lot of Lynx Music (260 Emerson Avenue) on Friday, July 8, Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10. See below for daily performance schedules, with more updates on Facebook and Instagram. The entire festival can also be streamed at www.mixtofestival.com.
