On March 29th, the Mississauga Festival Chamber Choir (MFCC) will embark on a profound journey under the direction of David Ambrose, presenting Craig Hella Johnson's "Considering Matthew Shepard."

David, known for his ability to bring out the emotional depth of a piece, has spent months preparing MFCC for this performance. The choir will deliver not just music, but a deeply empathetic narrative exploring themes of prejudice, forgiveness, and hope.

Rehearsals have been transformative, providing singers with moments of reflection on the complexities of Matthew Shepard’s story and its broader implications for humanity. Ambrose has fostered an environment of trust and vulnerability, allowing the music to serve as a powerful conduit for shared grief and a collective longing for compassion.

"This composition isn’t just about Matthew Shepard," Ambrose shared. "It’s about all of us—our choices, our words, and the silences we keep. It’s about the power of music to heal, transform, and remind us of our shared humanity."

The concert will take place at Christ First United Church, a venue known for its excellent acoustics and stunning stained-glass windows. This sacred space will amplify the emotional resonance of the performance, offering the audience an unforgettable experience.

Under Ambrose’s baton, MFCC will not simply perform "Considering Matthew Shepard"—they will embody it. Through their voices, the story will find renewed power, leaving the audience moved, inspired, and hopeful for a brighter future.
