Daniel Janke and Mark Fewer have worked together on numerous concert and recording projects. Film scores including Touch [Jeremy Podeswa, 2001] and Subconscious Password [Chris Landreth, Oscar short-list 2014]. Mark and Daniel also collaborated on the contemporary dance work Cinco Puntos Cardinales, which was subsequently release on the Centrediscs label. [CMCCD 16911, 2011].
Their recording Celestial Blue is a culmination of this musical relationship, and features new music for violin and prepared piano. www.musiccentre.ca/node/139228
Mark Fewer (violin) has been described as “genre-bending” (National Post), “intrepid” (Globe and Mail), “profound” (The Whole Note), and “freaky good” (The Gazette). His performance career has seen him tour worldwide. Mr. Fewer teaches at the string dept. of McGill University. Prior to this he was Artist-in-Residence at Stanford University, where he performed regularly as a member of the St. Lawrence String Quartet.
Daniel Janke (composer / piano and prepared piano) has composed music for Standing Wave Ensemble; Penderecki String Quartet; Bozzini String Quartet; and Ensemble Moderne du Québec. An accomplished jazz pianist, he has recorded with numerous artists including Bruce Cockburn and Holly Cole, and his own group Winter Trio. Daniel’s work as a media artist recently led to the release of his feature film The Grubstake Remix.
