Malcom is Missing
Brooke Mullins’s personal tragedy began in October of 2018, when the single mother of two from Port Hope, Ontario, packed a light bag and flew to Mexico. Five days earlier she’d received word that her father Malcom was missing. With a strong feeling that something was wrong, Brooke went looking for her father and quickly learned that he’d probably been murdered.
Within a week of landing in Puerto Vallarta, Brooke discovered a “smoking gun” video of her father with his live-in girlfriend, Marcela, thus launching Brooke’s quest to bring her father’s killers to justice. The evidence was plain—in fact, damning—to anyone who cared to look, but Brooke learned that getting justice for Malcom wouldn’t be that easy. Her more than three-year fight to find and bring her father’s killers to justice has made her feel as if she was trapped in a surreal maze; a bizarre world of ineffective Mexican courts and corrupt officials; a world of secret informers and bribes; a world in which body parts become currency and legal steps sometimes have to be purchased. Every once in a while, she feels certain of a conclusion; at other times, she’s convinced it will never end.
