Sunday May 24th - Hugh’s Room - Mad Dogs and Englishmen - The Music of Joe Cocker and Leon Russell 8:30PM

Fresh off two weeks of outstanding shows around ON, Lance Anderson will bring his ‘Mad Dogs’ extravaganza/travelling medicine show to Toronto @Hugh’s Room. Sunday May 24th (not the long weekend) for 1 NITE ONLY!

They have booked it on a Sunday night so that the T.O. musicians might have a chance to catch this show. A must for drummers to see two of the country’s finest drummers playing together.

Michael Sloski (Bruce Cockburn, Cameo Blues Band, Manteca, Holly Cole …) and Shamakah Ali (The A Team, The Bar-Kays) with Art Avalos on percussion (Manteca). This is a dream rhythm section and is like a freight train when it gets rollin’.

The young keyboard ace from Kitchener Matt Weidinger will sing and play organ, with special guest Wally Zwol. Just announced! Johnny Max (entertainer extaordinaire) will join the troupe.

And if you want to hear sweet singing from the best BG choir in the country, you have to hear Quisha Wint, Selena Evangeline and Cheryl Lescom, They also individually bring the house down with their featured songs as well.

The rhythm section is rounded out by the great Terry Blersh on guitar, and the solid Collin Barrett on bass. Add Dave Dunlop (Boss Brass) on Trumpet and Simon Wallis on sax (Lighthouse) and this is turning into a gospel rock n soul party!

Led by Juno award winning producer and arranger Lance Anderson, piano (Shakura S’Aida, Anderson&Sloski) (who also brought The Last Waltz, Genius+Soul, and the Levon Helm Celebration to Hugh’s Room) and you know this will be the musical highlight of the season.

We play all Joe’s Hits from the award winning 1970 concert doc - The Letter, With a Little Help From My Friends, Feelin’ Alright, Drown in My Own Tears, Space Captain, Cry Me a River … etc An incredible night of the music arranged by Leon Russell of the ‘Wrecking Crew’.
