Long Winter is an all ages inter-arts festival that takes place during Toronto's colder months.
Now entering its sixth season, Long Winter has emerged as an essential, highly anticipated annual series in Toronto's cultural calendar. Originally housed in the historic Great Hall on Queen St West, Long Winter animates multiple spaces on multiple floors, transforming large venues into uniquely immersive, collaborative environments.
Featuring the works and installations of over 200 artists/collectives each season, our programming aims to provide a platform for the experimental work of local artists, to challenge expectations, and to foster creative interactions between audiences and spaces. A Long Winter program includes work that spans mediums from performance art, theatre and dance, large-scale sculptural installations, projections, visual art, and video games by local programmers.
Long Winter is committed to presenting a diverse experience of music and art with as few barriers to access as possible. Events almost always include a Pay What You Can (PWYC) option. Long Winter features some of the most exciting musicians and experimental artists from across Southern Ontario, hailing from an eclectic range of genres and subcultures.
