Live on the Patio: Nunavut Music Week Kick-Off- FREE

Featuring: The Jerry Cans, Riit and The Trade-Offs

The mission of Aakuluk Music is to help Nunavut musicians produce and promote their music. They are bringing three groups from their roster for a kick-off party on Wed, Aug 23, to celebrate Nunavut Music Week. You may have heard of The Jerry Cans, profiled on CBC, Exclaim!, Noisey, and recently, for their cover of The Tragically Hip song Ahead by a Century. The band bring a unique mix of Inuktitut alt-country, throat singing, and reggae, a distinctly northern, one-of- a-kind group, committed to representing northerners and to challenging common misconceptions they have encountered about life in the Arctic. They will be joined by multi-instrumentalist, folk singer and throat singer Riit and The Trade-Offs who bring iconic Arctic Soul – a mix of rock and roll, and blues.
