Karma, Rebirth, Free Will

Is our karma set in stone? Eastern perspectives on our capacity to make decisions.

Is karma the same as destiny? Does this doctrine presuppose a deterministic worldview or is it predicated on free will? If there is an afterlife, is our conditions there a result of our karma? The doctrines of karma and rebirth are hallmarks of Hinduism, Buddhism, and other religions of South Asia. In our modern globalized world, these concepts are increasingly becoming a component of the western mindset. To what extent is secular western society reinterpreting Eastern ideas based on our own Judeo-Christian and Muslim biases?

The presentation ends around 8:30 but the exchange of ideas continues while we share complimentary snacks and beverages.

The venue is called Centre Place and is located at 320 Richmond St. E - Suite 101, Toronto, ON, M5A 1P9. We're on a commercial unit of "The Modern" condominium, at the NE corner of Sherbourne and Richmond. Our unit has its own entrance on Richmond, right next to McFarrens Ln. Above the main entrance there's a blue sign that says Centre Place. (For directions lookup "Centre Place Toronto" on your phone). The venue is 100% accessible.
