The Whiskeys 🥃

Your whisky tasting flight will include four rare single malt whiskys from private bottlings or special collections coming straight from independent distilleries in Scotland. You won't find these whiskys anywhere else in all of Canada, sometimes the world, a testament to the Caledonian's extensive inventory.

1994 LONGMORN by MURRAY McDAVID- 14 YR (46.0%)

Region: Speyside

An outstanding Speyside malt, gentle, soft with strong notes of ripe red fruit, long finish. This is a whisky from the independent bottler Murray McDavid and is part of their “turquoise series” - a limited edition of only 1500 bottles ever produced. It is Longmorn 14 year old single malt from 1994 and it has been matured in a bourbon but finished on a old Tempranillo barrel used for Rioja wine and then bottled by Murray McDavid.

NOSE

Perfect nose with vanilla sweetness and grape fruits and nuts. The wine influence starts to dominate at some point. Like it is evident in the taste as well.

PALATE

Apples with grapes meet vanilla and amazing licorice notes slowly fading away on the back. Weird and funky combo of goodness that is weirdly enough, very refreshing.

FINISH

Licorice still lingers but pretty quickly, strong ginger takes over. Bitter notes and oak are present

DALMORE 2007 by HART BROTHERS - 11 YR - (55.1%)

Region: Highland

A vintage Highland cask strength Scotch whisky. Aged in a single cask port pipe and distilled in April 2007. Bottled in November 2018 by Hart Brothers.

NOSE

Very fruity, red fruits, strawberry. Floral notes as well. Quite some alcohol. Very fresh.

PALATE

Very powerful and intense, red fruits, berries. Floral notes. Also some honey.

FINISH

Fruity, with a sort of buttery touch in the finish. Pretty long with some floral edge.

1993 GLENLOSSIE by MURRAY McDAVID - 10 YR - (46.0%)

Region: Speyside

This discontinued Glenlossie 1993 Murray McDavid 10 year old Single Malt Whisky was matured in Bourbon Cask. It was distilled in 1993 and bottled at Bruichladdich in 2004 by Murray McDavid. This is another limited edition of one of 1500 bottles.

NOSE

Very fresh, clean and flowery. Some milk, fresh crème, broiled cereals. Very citrusy.

PALATE

Cold tea, camomile, fructose, apple (golden delicious), lavender ice cream. A dash of pepper and vanilla from the wood.

FINISH

A long and sligthly fruity fresh finish

2013 WILLIAMSON LAPHROAIG by CARN MOR - 8 YR - (47.5%)

Region: Islay

Williamson is the name used for Laphroaig's whisky sold to independent bottlers, in honour of legendary former Laphroaig owner and distillery manager, Bessie Williamson. A whisky that peat heads will love, this is a great opportunity to try a small batch release from one of Islay's biggest and most recognisable names: Laphroaig. Aged in ex-Bourbon Hogsheads for 8 years, it explodes with bonfire smoke and salty seaweed, with a gentle sweetness on the finish. A small batch release of 780 bottles under the Càrn Mòr Strictly Limited series.

NOSE

Earthy smoke, a touch of salt and juniper with crab.

PALATE

Bright on the salt, sea spray, seaweed, pine and mint.

FINISH

Iodized with earthy smoke and paraffin. A touch of chartreuse.

Fun Fact: The Caledonian has whisky and malt bottles from many different years and you can drink a whisky of your birth year! If whisky is your thing or if you're looking for the perfect crash course into the liquid gold; this is the experience for you.
