IMPULSE 2019

The School of Toronto Dance Theatre presents IMPULSE 2019, an ambitious main-stage performance of ensemble works, showcasing dancers from all three years of the Professional Training Program.

First year students will perform a new work by one of the School’s Resident Choreographers, Darryl Tracy. His past work for our dancers has included highly physical and theatrical movement, and this year’s commission promises to be colourful, dynamic, intricate, and fast-moving.

Second year students will present new pieces created by two very accomplished alumni of the School. Kate Alton, Artistic Director of Crooked Figure Dances, has created fascinating and absorbing choreography for the School in past years, and her work has garnered her significant accolades and awards. Pulga Muchochoma, a magnificent dancer with Toronto Dance Theatre since his graduation, is creating a work that undoubtedly will feature his trademark exuberance and physicality.

Third year students will perform a newly-commissioned piece by the renowned Montreal dance artist Marc Boivin. His past work for the School has been thought-provoking and stimulating. Additionally, these dancers will premiere a new, vibrant, and charged piece by Apolonia Velasquez, Co-Artistic Director of the acclaimed Toronto urban dance company Gadfly.
