Immaculate Memories: The Uncluttered Worlds of Christopher Pratt

One of Canada’s most prominent artists, the late painter Christopher Pratt had a storied and celebrated career spanning more than seven decades. Known for his strikingly beautiful landscapes and roadscapes that depict the meeting of the natural and human worlds, he was an invaluable chronicler of his birthplace of Newfoundland—and even designed the province's flag in 1980. In Immaculate Memories, he opens up to filmmaker Kenneth J. Harvey about his life and art in an honest, whimsical and occasionally unsettling portrait. Together, they take a seven-day trip through the Newfoundland countryside, searching for the sites of some of Pratt’s most well-known paintings. Pratt died on June 5, 2022, at age 86, at his home on the bank of the Salmonier River. This film is screening in honour of the memory of one of our country’s great cultural icons.
