Home Away Home, a multi-disciplinary visual and media arts exhibition & festival celebrating diversity, immigrant stories and vernacular architecture of the city, will converge in Toronto's Kensington Market neighbourhood from September 6 - 10th 2018.
The event features artists using both exterior and interior installations in historic Victorian and eclectic architecture. The festival will use laneways, streets, parks, public space and alternative exhibition spaces, in addition to galleries to activate the neighbourhood in new exciting ways for the public. The festival will also curate a series of programming to accompany the exhibition and artist installations that will galvanize the public.
Programming includes historic tours, workshops, talks, family activities & musical performances.
Rafi Ghanaghounian, Executive Director of Keep Six Contemporary Arts, will curate a selection of new work from Toronto-based artists responding to the questions and stories rooted in the immigrant, newcomer and refugee experience. Crossing boundaries, migration and borders are foundational not only for Canadian identity but for the formation of Toronto’s Kensington Market.
