Harbourfront Centre presents Torque
Harbourfront Centre announces its international contemporary dance series, Torque, on stage from October 2022 to May 2023. The 2022/23 season will showcase five dance presentations and three world premieres. UK’s Hofesh Shechter Company, October 27-29, presents the Ontario premiere of Double Murder, the internationally celebrated choreographer’s thrilling new double bill of contrasting works - Clowns and The Fix; Toronto’s own Kaeja d’Dance, November 11-13, presents two world premieres with TouchX// I am the Child of…and examines the universal power of reflection, resilience and touch; Quebec’s Compagnie Virginie Brunelle, February 24-25, presents the Toronto premiere of Les corps avalés, a moving union between contemporary dance and classical music, performed live by the Molinari Quartet; Six Nations of the Grand River’s and Toronto’s Kaha:wi Dance Theatre, April 13-15, presents the world premiere of Homelands, a multimedia performance created to uphold power, sacred existence and continuance of feminine creative force; and South Africa’s Dada Masilo, May 16-17, presents The Sacrifice, an exploration of the minimalism and animality of Tswana dance in relation to Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.
