Can you believe it?? Tea Base is turning ONE YEAR on January 16, 2020.

In our first year of operating, we hosted over 140 cultural and arts events, worked with over 30 local artists/collectives, had over 15 on-going partnerships, BUILT A GARDEN FROM SCRATCH, and did some radical anti-displacement grassroots activism with Friends of Chinatown Toronto - FOCT.

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to come celebrate the relationships we've cultivated and community we've built this past year. When we opened last January, there was no way we could have anticipated the amount of support we would receive. Thank you to everyone who sees themselves in our space. We're going to be serving free tea for the people all night long.

For our birthday, we're asking for gifts of books, zines, magazines, and literature from the Pan-Asian diaspora. Why?

Because we're going to catalogue a community sourced "Pan-Asian Tea-Brary" ♥ ♥ We want to start off our second year with the power of knowledge ♥ ♥

There will be a special performance from Eyeda Sophia and Maxhole Edison, macarons Made By Mree for sale, a zine-making corner hosted by Scarborough Studies Collective, and a button-making station with Anto Man-Ming Chan !!

Our goal is to gain $888/month in memberships by the end of January. There are ~*exclusive*limited*edition*~ merch perks like mahjong earrings, stickers, pins and more! There will be a sign-up table at all of our one year celebrations.

We will invest our increased revenue into upgrading other revenue streams (grants, tea/coffee program, in-house events, rentals). After we do that, we’ll start making enough revenue to PAY PEOPLE!! We want to pay the people who make Tea Base possible. Let's make this magical reality sustainable through the power of the people, self determination, and collective care.

Tea Base is located in the basement of 222 Spadina Ave at Unit c-15 (there's a sign that says "Xuan Huong"). Most of the entrances DO have several steps but there is one entrance door near the 'Super 8' that says "Chinatown centre" this entrance has no steps.
