2116: Art of Leverage

Twelve artists with different cultural backgrounds - from Saudi Arabia to India, Cuba to Venezuela, China to Canada - are featured in this multi-media exhibit. The works include painting, drawing, installation, sculpture and video. The theme of the exhibit is the intrinsic power of art to shape reality - not the power of force or argument, but of a deeper human connection - this is leverage. Creatively, the works are united by an attention to the underlying values of humanity (often obscured in modern society), and a calling up of forgotten spirituality.

This is an opportunity to see and purchase work by a diverse group of emerging artists, curated by Anne Tom Wong and organized by Emerging Young Artists (EYA). Over 30 pieces of artwork will be displayed at this exhibition, representing a wide variety of style, media and subject matter reflecting their visions of the contemporary society that is vital to our evolution as a global community.

Please join us on January 15, 2016, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the opening reception for 2116: Art of Leverage exhibition at Gallery 1313. The venue is conveniently located on Queen st. West between Duffrin and Landsdowne, with the entrance through the west gate.

Artists: Hussain Al Ismail, Yan Wen Chang, Luis Figueroa, Sally Huang Wong, Marley Johnson, Sara MacLellan, Leone McComas, Alexandr Nabokov, Fernando Pendas Fernandez, Vineetha Sivathasan, Yong Zhang, Kathy H. Zhou

About EYA:

Founded in 2014, Emerging Young Artists (EYA) is a not-for-profit organization based in Toronto. EYA works with different institutions and organizations to develop curated art exhibitions, workshop and concert that feature Canadian (and international) emerging artists from a wide range of artistic background. These initiatives aim to stimulate discourses within the community and encourage participation in the arts.

Our mission is to increase appreciation for emerging and underrepresented artists’ work through artistic development and public exhibition. We also endeavor to foster contemporary art practices that act as catalysts for inclusivity and diversity in the arts, cross-cultural dialogue, and critical engagement of contemporary context.
