GUMBO - Caribana Weekend Edition
Gumbo massive! We’re back again for summer '24! Part 2: Caribana Thursday
Gumbo crew! We’re happy to be cooking again and serving up three courses of sonic Afro-goodness for summer ‘24. It's time for the tastiest treat of the year: Caribana Thursday. The lineup includes the unforgettable Blaq Pages from LA, UK's rising star DJ NAS, Dubai's finest Crown Prince, and our in-house DJ Blackeys! Tickets are likely to sell out before doors open. It's the hottest Caribana Thursday ticket for 9 years and still running!
Once upon a time we started #WeAreGumbo on a Caribana Thursday night because we didn’t want to go up against the madness of the weekend. We knew it was a gamble but we were determined to create a party worth calling in sick or taking a half day for. 9 years later, we have succeeded in putting our stamp on Caribana Thursday as the sweatiest dance floor in the GTA. We might play in different spaces these days but Gumbo will always be about good music and good vibes. A party for people who want to get free...if only for a few hours. Come as you are or come as you want to be. Just come with an open mind for Afrobeats, Soca, Amapiano, Dancehall and whatever our DJs decide to cook up. Just nyam dat!
We're giving out a prize for the best dressed in the suggested style code: Vintage Yard. Think: Rockers meets Dancehall Queen.

About Gumbo:
Founded by Wan(@waninspades) and Chi(of @Supafrik), Gumbo is a reflection of their multicultural roots in West Africa and the West Indies. It is an art-infused dance party celebrating African and Caribbean culture through music, dance, video projections, photography and space design. 2024 marks 9 years since Gumbo was founded in Toronto during Caribana. Gumbo has since gone on the road connecting the African diaspora from Montreal to New Orleans to Brooklyn where they collaborated with Afropunk. Musically centered in Afrobeats, their musical palette also draws from everything from Soca to Dancehall/Reggae and from Amapiano to Afrohouse and New Orleans Bounce. Pulling from guest DJs like Boddhi Satva, Anais B, NaijaBoi(Mr.Eazi) and Nana Kwabena(Jidenna) they bring the raw energy and creativity of carnival culture into the Gumbo discotek connecting the Afro-diaspora through music.
