GIRLS GONE WILD - Back Alley Art Party
KATZMAN x BROADBENT SISTERS x THE GRAPE WITCHES
Join us on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30th for a one-night only art party in the back alley of KATZMAN CONTEMPORARY where we will be magically rewilding this automotive boneyard with our fire projections, wild grape wine, bad girl music, and pit-stop tarot readings.
Initiate your night with wild fire and glasses of grapes gone wild. THE GRAPE WITCHES will be featuring limited production treasures from the far corners of the world. Experience the premiere of the BROADBENT SISTERS film 'Build a Fire' on automotive debris as well as their live magical performances on cars.
Thank you to Bad Girls Collective for supporting this party and wild women.
BROADBENT SISTERS
Joy and Rose Broadbent are multidisciplinary artists based in Toronto. Together, the Broadbent Sisters transform the domestic into dreamlike realms where sparkles are swept and spaces are cleared. They use performance and installation to create interactive experiences that transform lowly everyday objects into mystical artifacts. Their unfolding art practise, 'Clearing Spaces' examines themes of domestic life, meditation, femininity, religious ritual, and pop spirituality. They have produced multiple exhibitions in the series 'Clearing Spaces'; which have been shown internationally at the Festival Du Nouveau Cinema, TRAFO Centre for Contemporary Art, the Art Gallery of Ontario, HUNTCLUB, Katzman Contemporary, The Drake Hotel, and as part of the Sunday Drive Art Projects. Joy and Rose find collaboration to be a unique venue for distilling the essence of form and exploring telepathic ways of creating.
Grape Witches
The Grape Witches is a love project between friends and sommeliers Krysta Oben and Nicole Campbell. Krysta and Nicole were tired of their favourite humans seeking well made food, ethical producers and evocative art only to pair them with high production, soulless wines. They founded Grape Witches to help fire people find fire wines in fire places without pretension or patriarchy. These are the bottles sommeliers are hoarding: small production, low intervention, magical elixirs that tell profound anthropological and personal stories. They are wild women using their female gaze to create inclusive, radically soft, transformative spaces with wine as cultural conduit. Join them. Find them on instagram or their site for their monthly wine seance raves and education hours. Grape Witches love the Broadbent Sisters and are deeply honoured to join them in a late fall celebration.
