Join us for a gallery talk by Jason Baerg, artist, fashion designer, and Associate Professor in Indigenous Practices, Contemporary Painting & Media Art at OCAD University, as they share insights about the work of Elana Herzog.

Renowned Cree Métis and Two-Spirit artist, activist, fashion designer, and educator Jason Baerg earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University, Master of Fine Arts from Rutgers University, and is enrolled in the Ph.D. program at Monash University. As a visual artist, they push digital interventions in drawing, painting, and new media installation. Baerg has exhibited solo nationally and internationally. And following the launch of their fashion label called Ayimach Horizons, in 2023, they were named one of “21 Artists to Know at This Year’s Santa Fe Indian Market” by Vogue and one of “5 Indigenous Fashion Designers You Need to Know” by Elle.

Exemplifying their commitment to community, Baerg co-founded The Shushkitew Collective and The Métis Artist Collective, volunteered as Chair for the Indigenous Curatorial Collective and National Indigenous Media Arts Coalition, and sat on numerous art juries and won awards through the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, and Toronto Arts Council.
