Free Film Screening and Discussion: STEP the movie
Going to school and accessing a quality education isn’t easy or even an option for some students.
STEP documents the senior year of a girls' high-school step dance team against the background of inner-city Baltimore. As each one tries to become the first in their families to attend college, the girls strive to make their dancing a success against the backdrop of social unrest in the troubled city.
STEP is a free screening in support of My Class Needs, a charity that creates innovative learning opportunities and experiences for K-12 students in Canadian publicly-funded schools. Donations will be accepted at the door to support classrooms in need of learning tools and technology.
Tickets can be redeemed online or in-person at the Hot Docs Cinema Box Office.
Doors will open at 5:30 PM with the screening to follow at 6 PM.
A post-screening discussion and a live pitch by Toronto teachers to support their classroom projects will follow the film.
