Four Rooms an Immersive Exhibition by elsewhere collective
Staged in four chapters over four weeks at Gallery 1888, Four Rooms is a multimedia installation exploring the fluid nature of home—how it lives within our bodies, memories, and collective imagination.
At its core sits a mirrored cube, a shifting threshold surrounded by four rooms that rotate with each chapter. Within them, familiar furnishings—bed, bath, sofa, and dining table—act as anchors for dreamlike narratives, unfolding through autonomous performances of light, projections, and sound. As audience and space intertwine, these domestic archetypes morph, weaving a surreal tapestry of mind, matter, and memory.
The cube oscillates between reflection and transparency, fragmenting and distorting its surroundings. When outwardly lit, its mirrored surfaces collage the room into fleeting compositions. When illuminated from within, layered projections dissolve its physical boundaries into infinite space.
