Fossil Prep Workshop
Calling all dinosaur enthusiasts! Have you ever wondered how dinosaur bones are cleaned and prepared for study? Have you ever dreamed of being part of a dinosaur discovery? Then this workshop is for you!
The ROM recently received a donation of over 750 fossils from a single bonebed of the amazing, horned dinosaur Medusaceratops, and now needs your help to uncover these bones from the rock they are encased in. Roll-up your sleeves for this one-day workshop where you will be trained as a palaeontology technician and discover the history of this remarkable creature that roamed the Earth 75 million years ago.
The new ROM fossils are from the only known bone bed of Medusaceratops lokii (Judith River Formation, Kennedy Coulee, Montana) and are approximately 80 million years old. This new set of bones will help ROM scientists describe the body skeleton of one of the world’s oldest known horned dinosaurs for the first time, thereby contributing ground-breaking information to understanding the early evolution of horned dinosaurs. Help us with our research!
Lunch is included in registration.
