FEATURED EXHIBITIONS

Out of the Depths: The Blue Whale Story

A ROM original exhibition that retells the tragic story of 2014 and the unprecedented opportunity for research and conservation that resulted. Come face to face with the enormous eighty- foot skeleton of Blue, and discover the mind-blowing biology of blue whales; the humongous size of their heart, their unusual feeding behaviour, how they communicate and their evolution from land to sea. Find out how the ROM is studying their DNA to unlock some of the mysteries surrounding these large but elusive creatures, and gain insight into the global decline of the blue whale population and what is being done to protect the worlds largest animalever

Anishinaabeg: Art & Power

Explore the life, traditions, and sacred stories of the Anishinaabeg as told through their powerful art over the last two centuries. Anishinaabeg: Art & Power takes you on a journey through the artistic evolution of one of the most populous and diverse Indigenous communities in North America.

The Family Camera

Discover the connections between family, photography, and migration with The Family Camera, an exhibition that explores how family photos shape our sense of self, family, community, and nation.

Art, Honour, and Ridicule: Asafo Flags from Southern Ghana

This new exhibition takes a historical and contemporary look at Asafo flags. These flags are the insignia created for the numerous military Asafo companies of the Fante states along the coast of Southern Ghana. Historically, Asafo companies were in charge of the safety and protection of the local community as well as warfare. Today they act as the vibrant core of local communities. Their flags depict narratives of pride, wisdom, and defiant messages to enemies and are sacred objects depicting the spirit and history of a company.
