Fabric Marbling
Fabric Marbling is an ancient aqueous surface design technique. The process involves dropping pigments onto a thickened liquid surface and using pre-prepared fabric, taking a print of the design. Each print is a monotype and a work of art in itself.
In this workshop, participants will learn about the fundamental materials and techniques for marbling on fabric. They will leave the 2 hour workshop knowing: how to set up a marbling bath, prepare fabrics, the best inks and materials to use, and different patterning techniques.
With a focus on western-style marbling, students will gain the technical understanding needed to make beautiful one-of-a-kind textiles. This workshop is an introduction to the technique and will present the opportunity to try out traditional patterns and also explore new ones.
No experience is required, and all supplies are included with registration
