EYE BUY ART weekend pop-up
October 16 - November 24, 2017
WEEKDAY HOURS: Monday to Friday, 11am - 3pm, and by special appointment.
WEEKEND HOURS: Saturday November 18th and Sunday November 19th (ONLY) from 10am - 4pm.
This exhibition is unlike anything EYE BUY ART has hosted before, and comprises over 1500 square feet of award-winning photographs from some of Canada's most promising new artists working in contemporary image making.
This is the largest pop-up in EYE BUY ART history, and the longest running at six weeks long! EYE BUY ART has been online since 2009, and so this is a rare chance to take these artworks off your screen and onto the walls, where visitors can see the work in person, on a grand scale.
The exhibition includes one-of-a-kind paper cut-outs by Ontario artist Becky Comber, floated paint shadowboxes by Ottawa newcomer Heidi Conrod, and limited edition, large-scale photographs by LA-based artist Ryan Schude.
The show is also the launching pad for a very special partnership with 3M, who have generously provided support to exhibit grand format, limited edition murals in the lobby of First Canadian Place (the BMO Tower), where over 80,000 people a day pass through. This new program will launch the release of a new kind of art form; mural-sized, limited edition photographs that can be custom fit to any wall.
The artists in this exhibition present a story of our current world, as told through their photographic lens. They expand our traditional view of photography as they expand the boundaries of the medium, in diverse and unexpected ways, by incorporating such varied practices as documentary, sculpture, traditional craft, theatre and storytelling.
Please join us in exploring the way these next generation of image-makers are helping shape our world, and our place within it.
