Eight Quarter

2024 Sheridan Furniture Graduating Class

Sheridan College’s Bachelor of Craft & Design program has eight students graduating from the Furniture Studio this spring. The students have been developing their thesis projects all year, and will be debuting the final pieces in an exhibition at the start of May. Eight Quarter will feature the work of the entire graduating class in the new Top Top gallery on Geary.

The Sheridan Furniture program specializes in fine woodworking, and the projects presented in the exhibition reflect the high level of craftsmanship that the program is known for. Each student began with a concept before focusing on academic and material research, and eventually moving on to fabrication. The projects being exhibited vary greatly from engaging narratives around grief to highlighting the pleasure of the lounge to celebrating one’s unique individuality. The pieces in the show include a dining set, a living room set, upholstered seating, lighting, and more. The class of 2024 is driven and ambitious, and this is shown in the work being presented.

The show will be open May 5-12, with open hours 12-5 on weekends and 4-7pm during the week. A reception will be held on Friday May 10th, 6-9pm, with all the graduating students in attendance. If you are interested in seeing the show but can’t make those hours - let us know and we can book an appointment at a time that works.

For appointment outside of open hours or media inquiries, please contact Alison Postma: alison.ruma@gmail.com

Eight Quarter is being exhibited at Top Top gallery, which is located at 165 Geary, Unit 4. The gallery is accessed through a side door on Bartlett, behind Blood Brothers and before the train tracks (see map). We will have signage helping you find your way in!
