Eatable Films Presents: Ulam with Food and Drinks by Lamesa
Nicole Ponseca (New York), Charles Olalia (San Francisco), Alvin Cailan (Los Angeles) — these and other award-winning chefs and restauraters are introducing Filipino cuisine and culture in restaurants across the continent. Meet this new generation of passionate food artists and discover the spectacular flavours that make up their cuisine in ULAM, a delicious introduction to the exploding Filipino food movement. From “Kamayan”, a feast served on banana leaves to “adobo”, a preparation that features vinegar, “lumpia”, egg rolls and “pancit”, a variety of noodles, traditional recipes are gracing the North American food landscape with a fresh twist. This is the moment for Filipino food to cross over into the mainstream and become the Ulam – the main dish.
Taste the food you see on the screen! Admission includes an introduction to Filipino food, with a cocktail, appetizers, main dish and dessert, from Toronto's Lamesa Filipino Kitchen.
Followed by a Q&A with director Alexandra Cuerdo, Toronto chefs Robbie Hojilla, Rudy Boquila, Daniel Cancino and restaurateur Les Sabilana, moderated by Kristine Estorninos, head of Programming Reel Asian Film Festival.
Co-presented with Eatable Films as part of the Reel Asian International Film Festival
