East meets West - Movies and Music: China Broadcasting Film Orchestra

Epic live performance, showcasing the best of music from the silver screen from China to Hollywood by internationally renowned China Broadcasting Film Orchestra and guest conductor Pang Ka Pang. Timeless scores and soundtracks brought to life as orchestra performs live with films playing on a massive LED screen in the backdrop.

Enjoy nostalgic classics from composers like John Williams, Hans Zimmer and James Horner to guest conductor Pang Ka Pang’s artful fusion of western stylings on traditional Chinese scores.

Some highlights of the evening’s program include, from the east: “Red Sun Shines on the Border” (Chinese Revolutionary Music), the Peking Opera with scores from Killing Tiger on the Mountain, and Song of the Fishermen (with You Yaowen on cello, and Li Li on harp).

From the west: “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter, scores from Star Wars, “The Prayer” from Quest for Camelot, and excerpts from Spectre from the James Bond series.

You can expect an energetic and highly entertaining evening as the critically acclaimed China Broadcasting Film Symphony Orchestra (CBFSO) engages audiences at both visual and auditory levels. CBFSO has been pleasing crowds since 1949 and has performed and recorded music for nearly 2000 films, television dramas and documentaries.

They have also performed in over 40 countries across five continents, and featured renowned conductors, composers, dancers and performers from all over the globe, as well as often playing to sold-out audiences.
