DEVOTION: An Art Show invites you to explore the deep connection between artists Avery Steel and Curt Montgomery, both devoted to their craft and to each other. Through a curated blend of photography and illustration, we unveil the intimate dialogue that has shaped their artistic expression over the years; highlighting the ways in which love, admiration, and collaboration shape their artistic expression.

Avery Steel is celebrated for her unique photography, capturing herself, loved ones, and anthropomorphic objects imbued with human personality. Her cool and inviting palette enhances each standalone image, balancing voyeurism and dreamlike storytelling. Steel’s photographs seem destined to be seen, revealing a necessary beauty and keenly crafted candidness that has defined her body of work.

Curt Montgomery, a talented tattoo artist from Toronto, enriches this exhibition with a selection of early works alongside his more recent illustrations, showcasing the evolution of his artistry. By including these formative pieces, he illustrates his journey from where he began to the vibrant illustrations that now complement Steel’s photography, reflecting their shared thoughts and experiences through vulnerability, form, and symbolism.

This retrospective invites you to witness the love and dedication behind their work. They hope to inspire viewers to reflect on their own relationships with art and each other, recognizing that devotion is a powerful catalyst for creativity. Join us in celebrating the intertwined narratives of Avery Steel and Curt Montgomery, united by their passion and the evolution of their artistry. There are also incredible contributions from Canadian artists Dezmond Arnkvarn, Hilary Wilson Ceramics and Divine Photo Project on display and for sale at the exhibition.
