December 6th Candlelight Vigil
December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, this day marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l'cole Polytechnique de Montral.
Every year, Women Won't Forget organizes a candlelight vigil at Philosophers Walk, to mourn the 14 women murdered because of their gender. December 6th is an opportunity to consider the women and girls for whom violence is a daily reality, and to remember those who have died as a result of gender-based violence.
We are also eagerly looking for volunteers to help set-up the Vigil as well as musicians and spoken word artists interested in performing this year. If you're interested in helping with a worthy cause, please contact womenwontforget@gmail.com. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact us.
