Day of the Dead
Harbourfront Centre presents the 15th anniversary of its Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos celebration: an exploration of the ancient and contemporary traditions of Mexico’s oldest cultural celebration of life, heritage and family histories. This free, two day, family-oriented festival is Toronto’s longest running celebration of one of Mexico’s most important holidays.
Join us as we present an evolution of ofrendas through the vision of Mexican and Latin American artists, and traditional ofrendas created by community groups. Experience and sample some of the best in contemporary Mexican and Latin culture, and enjoy ofrendas set to the unique soundscape of Fernando Ruiz. Throughout the weekend, enjoy guided tours in both English and Spanish, offering audiences an opportunity to learn more about the ofrenda tradition and the specific artistic background of each ofrenda.
