Thursday, December 3, 2015 - 7-10pm
Marisa Hoicka presents Vra Chytilovs 1966 film Daisies. Daisies is a quintessential film in the Nov Vlna movement, also known as the Czechoslovak New Wave. This proto-feminist comedy-drama follows two teenage girls, both named Marie, who engage in strange pranks involving men. Formally innovative and socially contentious, this film was banned by Czech authorities.
The drink of the evening will be the Sweat and Tears Cocktail, also known as the Dark and Stormy. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Marisa Hoicka is a Toronto-based artist who integrates paintings, tactile elements, performance art, interactive video and other electronic media often collaborating with other artists in her unique approach to interactive installations. Her work explores, in a surrealist yet pragmatic way, young peoples relationships to labour and love. www.marisahoicka.com
In the Cult Classic Screening Series, an artist and member of Trinity Square Video will select a cult classic film and pair it with a thematic cocktail. Screenings are PWYC with a suggested donation of $5.00. Proceeds will go towards funding TSVs upcoming move to the first floor of 401 Richmond in 2016.
The Cult Classic Screening Series is brought to you by TSVs Membership and Events Committee.
