Conflict Resolution for Communities

Conflict is totally normal and it can be productive and necessary for growth! But conflict can also be destructive, especially when it escalates. This workshop offers a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive approach to preventing, de-escalating, and resolving conflicts as a community. This workshop believes that conflict isn't an individual problem best left to police and the criminal justice system. And yet, it's impossible to imagine alternatives unless we gain the skills needed to support all parties involved.

In this workshop, participants will learn gain some of the tools they need to support a community-based approach to conflict resolution. You will learn about conflict styles, active listening, non-violent communication, and the role that curiosity can play in resolving conflicts. One of the main goals of this workshop is to arm participants with the skills they need to address conflict without the presence of police, and to assess when police presence is necessary. By the end of this workshop, participants will walk away knowing what role they can play in helping their community become a space where accountability and healing are possible.

This workshop is 3 hours and operates on a trusted sliding scale, please choose what you are able to afford.
