Children of Men
Join VICE News Canada for an intimate screening of "Children of Men" followed by a panel discussion with VICE News reporters and guests that will probe some of the issues in the film as they are playing out today in Canada and abroad.
It’s been said before, and it remains true: Alfonso Cuarón’s chilling dystopian thriller Children of Men is steeped in themes and imagery around refugees, xenophobia and closed borders that are as relevant today as when it first came out, 12 years ago. Set in a near future in which the human race, doomed by infertility, is desperately clinging to survival, the film is a disturbing examination of what happens when we turn on each other.
Join us afterwards for a conversation on the migration crisis as it is playing out in the real world with VICE News reporter Tamara Khandaker, who covers refugee issues, Petra Molnar, a lawyer and expert on refugee law, immigration and human rights, and Natalie Alcoba, managing editor of VICE News Canada.
Tickets are $12 advance, $14 at the door and can be purchased here: www.universe.com/vice-com
