Chavela
A documentary celebration of rancheras singer Chavela Vargas. Born in 1919, Chavela was openly lesbian and blazed a trail for LGBT people in Mexico. Her career was revived by Pedro Almadovar who featured her music in his films. She began giving sell-out concerts internationally in her 70s, made her Carnegie Hall debut at 83, and continued performing and recording albums until her death.
