CANstruction Toronto
CANstruction, Toronto’s non-profit design and build contest, transforms the TD centre May 28th-31st with giant sculptures built entirely out of canned food. Scenes of Toronto's skyline, favourite cartoon characters, portraits of famous celebrities and more are recreated as impressive (and edible) "CANstructures". Teams of architects engineers, designers and students build through the night, competing for titles such as "Best Use of Labels", "Best Meal" and "Structural ingenuity", to raise awareness about Toronto's growing hunger gap.
At the end of the week, the structures are deCANstructed with all of the cans being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. With over 17.5 million pounds of food donated since 1992 worldwide, CANstruction proves we can fight hunger, one design at a time.
