Singleton's first film, for which he became (and remains) the youngest director to be nominated for Best Picture, follows the lives of three young men living in the Crenshaw ghetto of Los Angeles, dissecting questions of race, relationships, violence and future prospects.

"Boyz N The Hood not only casts a large shadow over Singleton’s career but Black cinema as a whole," NOW Magazine's Radheyan Simonpillai wrote on the day of Singleton's passing. "Arriving in the era of New Jack Cinema, Boyz N The Hood was far more soulful, insightful and melancholic than many of its peers."

Simonpillai will introduce and host the screening on Tuesday, May 14, at 9:30PM. The feature will also be preceded by trailers for Singleton's other works.
