Right now in the fitness industry across major metropolis cities in North America boxing training has become trendy (again) with boxing infused and inspired classes. All for good reason, because it’s simply the most well rounded feel good head to toe workout ever!
However, there exists a knowledge gap between 1) boxing as a professional sport and 2) boxing as an activity simply to be replicated for it’s amazing health benefits. The bridge between the two is appreciation and education for what these athlete’s do, why they do it and how.
Join former Ontario Champion Yvette Raposo in this 2 hour workshop who also trained at the elite professional level as she imparts her wisdom from 20 plus years involved in the sport and teaching the fundamentals of boxing training for its' fitness and health benefits.
You will learn:
- how to set your stance and punch efficiently resulting in a more intense full body workout
- how to wrap your hands properly and punch safely
- how to box in both orthodox and southpaw position and why ambidextrous training IS SO IMPORTANT!
- 3 different defensive moves and how to properly execute them
- 3 different jump rope tips to literally and immediately up your skip game to next level dialogue and jargon of boxing to help you understand the language resulting in better communication when teaching and/or learning new techniques
- 3 different conditioning combos which you can practise on your own time on your own heavy bag.

This workshop will be experiential with demonstrations and a clear break down on technique. This will involve heavy bag exercises and partner work for a better feel of what combat sport looks like, without the contact.
