Bowie's Birthday: Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars

Celebrate Bowie's Birthday with one of the best concert films ever made -- ZIGGY STARDUST & THE SPIDERS FROM MARS!

ABOUT THE FILM
Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars
UK 1979 90min. PG
Directed by D.A. Pennebaker

Starring David Bowie, Mick Ronson, the Spiders from Mars
David Bowie’s final electrifying performance as Ziggy Stardust in 1973 at London’s Hammersmith Odeon Theater was captured on film by legendary director D.A. Pennebaker (Don’t Look Back, Monterey Pop). The HD restoration from Pennebaker Films is the best this (notoriously murky) legendary concert has ever looked on film. Framed by a smattering of behind-the-scenes footage, the bulk of the film concerns the actual concert, notable as the final time that Bowie would perform under the Ziggy Stardust persona, an announcement that, at the time, led many fans to mistakenly believe Bowie was retiring from the music business altogether.

Featuring “Hang On To Yourself”, “Watch That Man”, “Oh! You Pretty Things”, “Moonage Daydream”, “Space Oddity”, “Ziggy Stardust” (naturally!) and many more all-time jams, as well as a blistering cover of the Velvet Underground’s “White Light/White Heat” and the electrifying shock finale of “Rock N’ Roll Suicide”. - DAVID BERTRAND

Doors open at 9:00PM. Show at 9:30PM!
