The world’s oldest dance crew has an average age of 79, more than a few artificial hips and a feisty and indefatigable spirit. Meet Hip Op-eration, 27 senior citizens preparing to throw down in the Las Vegas Hip Hop International championships. All the way from a small island off New Zealand, this inspirational troupe overcomes obstacles with good humour and incredible resolve, as they face financial hurdles, medical complications, family obligations and more. Under the guidance of the highly motivated volunteer choreographer and coordinator Billie Jordan, the team is met with open arms and support from the lively dance crew community—their contemporaries including award winners who have worked with the likes of Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj. Uplifting and upbeat, the festival prize-winning Hip Hop-eration bridges generations and has a whole lot of fun doing it.
