Looking to get into birding? Join us for a beginner-friendly birding walk on October Big Day, a global day for birding and community science. We’ll start the afternoon with an introduction to using binoculars (limited pairs are available to borrow from the Nature Centre), the basics on how to identify a new-to-you species of bird, and how to find them ethically. Then, we’ll head out into High Park, practice our bird watching skills, and participate in community science by submitting our species checklist to eBird, a worldwide database of birders’ observations. NOTE: Pre-registration is required for all our events, hikes and workshops. We do this to ensure we don’t exceed our capacity for indoor events or the maximum limits for group sizes on High Park’s ecologically sensitive trails. Please register on our website before coming to High Park.
