After making a wish with a carnival fortune-telling machine to be "big," 12-year-old Josh Baskin is astonished when he wakes up the next morning in the body of a 30-year-old man (Tom Hanks). While searching for the mystical machine so that he can change himself back, Josh takes a data-entry job at a NYC toy company, where his unique insight into child psychology allows him to quickly ascend the corporate ladder; meanwhile his desire to become a kid again is tested when he becomes romantically involved with his co-worker Susan (Elizabeth Perkins). This much-loved comedy-fantasy earned Hanks his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his delightful performance.
