SOVA was formed by a group of visual artists to share and exhibit their works together to make it easier and more affordable to participate in shows, and most importantly, to enjoy the camaraderie of being with other artists. The common goal is to expose the members' artwork to the public to be appreciated and enjoyed.

All members of SOVA are established working artists, involved in exhibitions with other groups, such as the Colour and Form Society and the Ontario Society of Artists, in addition to exclusive exhibitions organized by SOVA or other special exhibitions or art shows. Members have been involved in several shows in the USA and other provinces in Canada. Some have been selected by the McMichael Art Gallery and exhibited there. All SOVA members have won awards in juried exhibitions.
