Architecture and Design Film Festival: Toronto 2024

Are you an architecture and film lover in the Greater Toronto Area? Then you won’t want to miss the return of the Architecture and Design Film Festival (ADFF), a 4-day festival delivering the very best of global contemporary cinema celebrating architecture and design. Held at the world-renowned TIFF Lightbox from Wednesday, October 23 to Saturday, October 26, this year’s festival will include the screening of 16 different films, including numerous Canadian premieres, as well as panel discussions and parties.

According to ADFF Founder and Director Kyle Bergman, AIA, “Each year we screen over 350 films to uncover the most compelling and beautiful stories. Our goal is to entertain, educate, and foster community around the love of architecture and design. This year many of the films shed light on the singular genius of people who were challenged to fight the status quo and stay true to their vision to leave a lasting impact.”

Some of this year’s highlights include the opening night world premiere of Arthur Erickson, Beauty Between the Lines, a documentary exploring the life and work of Canada’s best known architects, as well as Stardust – The Story of Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown, an intimate portrait of two of North America’s most influential architects of the last century.

Films are offered at various times throughout the week. You can purchase tickets on the ADFF website, tickets to regular screenings are $16 general admission.

This year’s festival also includes a number of thought-provoking panel discussions held in partnership between ADFF and the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA). These panels bring together architects, designers, film-makers, and subject matter experts to further explore the themes of each film and bring them back to our local context here in Toronto.
