Apple Pie Contest
On Sunday, November 12th you can roll up your sleeves and serve up your best for our first ever Apple Pie Contest! The top three winners will not only win bragging rights but be eligible to win a special prize from businesses in the area. Winning pies will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at 3 pm.
If you are not a baker, but enjoy a good slice of apple pie, we will be serving up pie for $5 a slice. The event will be open to the public from 2-4pm.
The Apple Pie Contest is open to anyone who wants to bake. There is a participation fee of $10.00 for the pie contest, which will be donated. Pies will be judged on appearance, crust, filling and overall taste. You may register BEGINNING OCTOBER 1st online, on Facebook or in person at The Pie Commission at 887 Dundas Street West. Pies must be delivered to the Fort York Food Bank at 797 Dundas St West, on November 12th between 9:30 am and 11 am for judging.
We have three fantastic judges on the panel. Our resident pie expert, Janelle Lucas, owner of The Pie Commission at 887 Dundas St West, Councillor Mike Layton, a lover of pie and community builder, and Jennifer Emilson, the Instagram Influencer who displays her extraordinarily beautiful pies on social media via Instagram (@thelemonapron).
All proceeds will be donated to the Fort York Food Bank. The Fort York Food Bank is a charity that feeds the hungry and offers counselling, training and advocacy to help people find jobs.
